Caravan Park Padstow

Carnevas Holiday Park nestles in stunning and unspoilt Cornish countryside on the border of the beautiful Western coastline and just a few miles from the historical port town of Padstow. In recent times the town has enjoyed status as a popular tourist destination, especially amongst boating enthusiasts and yacht owners. Many vessels can be seen moored in Padstow harbour, thanks to it being one of the more easily navigable ports in a stretch of sea which demands attention. This same fact contributed to Padstow becoming a fishing port and although there are still fishing fleets operating from the harbour, more people will know the town for its association with celebrity chef Rick Stein than its fishing history. Stein's influence is evident in the many restaurants and cafe's including his own establishments, which attract many tourists from all areas of the UK.Padstow is a great place to visit and although relatively small its beauty warrants more than just one look. In fact many visitors to the caravan park will often spend several days or evenings basking in its homely, timeless charm.
If you are planning to stay at this caravan park in Padstow during late Spring or early Summer you might be interested to know about the 'Obby 'Oss festival. Running for one day only - May Day (1st) - the townspeople gather at midnight (on the 30th April) to sing "Morning Song". Later that morning the town is decorated with flowers and a maypole is erected. Processions through the street are headed by male dancers dressed as either the "Old" or the "Blue Ribbon" 'Obby 'Osses; which are stylised horses. Carrying a huge black cape the 'Obby 'Osses attempt to capture young maidens in the folds of their outstretched cloth. To close the days events the townsfolk assemble at midnight on the 1st and sing a song marking the death of 'Obby 'Oss. Although the origins of the festivities are not entirely clear (they are likely based on ancient fertility rites) it makes for an exciting and fun-filled day for all the family and well worth a visit if you are in the area at the time.
There are many other wonderful places to see around the Padstow area whilst staying at the caravan park including an abandoned World War II bunker, coastal paths and Hawkers Cove. We have plenty of information guides and packs here at the park and we would welcome the opportunity to help you to make the most of your holiday here.
